Events – Hugo Awards Ceremony

Hugo Awards Ceremony

The premier event of any Worldcon is the presentation of the World Science Fiction Society’s Hugo Awards. The Hugo Awards honor the best of science fiction and fantasy of the previous year in literature, non-fiction, dramatic presentations, art, and fan-driven works.

The Glasgow 2024 Hugo Awards Ceremony will be held on Sunday evening in the Armadillo. Please join us in celebrating the best science fiction and fantasy of 2023, and congratulate the finalists and winners, who will be selected by you, the members of the Worldcon!

As in previous years, we will be opening the doors well in advance to allow everyone to find their seats. (The Armadillo has seating for 3,000 – so we’ll have room to fit everyone in who wants to be there!). The nominees and their guests are brought in shortly before the start, after attending an official reception. (Even seasoned professionals get nervous, so it’s a good idea to ensure they have had something to eat and drink before the show!).

During the show, which typically runs for about 2 hours, we will be presenting:

  • The 2024 Hugo Awards, in 17 categories
  • The Lodestar Award for Best Young Adult Book
  • The Astounding Award for Best New Writer.

Watching Online

For those who cannot attend in person, we are delighted to say that we hope to provide a free public stream of the full Ceremony. More details of the streaming arrangements will be announced here and on Social Media closer to the event.
