Fan Parties

Most parties will be in the Landing Zone area of Hall 4. The arrangements will be similar to those for Loncon 3 (the 2014 Worldcon), in that the parties will take place in a shared function space with individual marquees for each party host.

For evening parties the area will be available for set up from 8 p.m. and will consist of a central open area with a number of 6 m x 3 m marquees round the edge – each of which will be the focus for a party. We expect parties to start about 9 p.m. Operating hours for the SEC have a hard deadline of 2 a.m., with means last orders will be at 1 a.m. After this, there will be 30 minutes drinking up time and then people will be asked to leave.

  • Party hosts can bring in wine/beer/soft drinks and cold, pre-packaged foodstuffs (e.g. crisps, biscuits etc). If you wish to serve hot food, this will need to be purchased from the venue. (We can facilitate contact with the SEC team on request).
  • Party hosts wishing to serve alcohol will have to attend an online course prior to the event – details of this course will be emailed to party hosts.
  • There will be a charge of £200 per party to cover the extra stewarding that the venue require us to provide for the parties. The space itself is otherwise free.

The party area is next to the SEC provided catering facilities in Hall 4, which will have a number of food stalls and a bar. The catering area will have tables and chairs set up.

The Dead Dog Party will be held in the Crowne Plaza on Monday 12th August from 7 p.m. until 2 a.m.
