Kathleen Jennings

Kathleen Jennings is a World Fantasy Award-winning illustrator and British Fantasy Award-winning writer based in Brisbane, Australia. She works heavily in fairy-tale, Gothic, and fairy-tale-Gothic palettes. Her illustrations are based in pen-and-ink and cut-paper silhouette traditions, and have appeared on book covers, as internal illustrations, and increasingly as maps, including for publishers such as Tordotcom, Simon & Schuster, Small Beer, Subterranean and Little, Brown, and authors such as Holly Black, Frances Hardinge, HG Parry and Angela Slatter. Her love of old-fashioned endpapers has led her into surface pattern design, including a recent “Darker Academia” Poe-inspired bedding design for Sin in Linen. She holds a creative-writing MPhil on Visual Evocation of the Sublime Australian Gothic fiction, and is completing a PhD on creative reflection. She is represented by Shena Wolf of KO Media Management.
