Lisa Konrad

Lisa Konrad was born in Birkenhead, Merseyside but left as soon as she could. For a while she attended art college in Cardiff, Wales, where she did very little painting but did experiment with video and performance art. Deciding that art college was not for her, she left and went to a Kibbutz in Israel for a year in 1979/80 before returning to Cardiff.

Still restless, she then went to Southeast Asia, and after a month or so in Bali she ended up in Penang, Malaysia where she stayed for 2 years and got married.

Deciding to return to the UK in the late 1980s she worked in a library for a few years then had two wonderful kids. As they got older she was able to first go back to art, initially via computers then back finally to painting.

A keen science fiction and fantasy fan, Lisa started exhibiting art at conventions in the late 1990s. She is also a keen board and computer gamer, and also a larper. She is interested in the overlap of larp with performance and physical art, crafts, writing and the stories people tell when they are together.

Currently, Lisa lives with her partner on the edge of Epping Forest, an ancient woodland she has often depicted in her paintings. The forest contains two Iron Age earthworks and boasts a rich folk history.
