Maya Hahto
Maya Hahto is an illustrator and visual artist from Finland. With a robust background in art and graphic design, she has a particular passion for book design and illustration. Her extensive portfolio spans various genres, including science fiction, horror, and fantasy covers. You can also see her faux vintage book cover project at the Art Show.
In recent years, Maya has primarily embraced digital media, although she remains a traditional artist at heart. She enjoys working with media such as oils, pencils, and scratchboard, maintaining her love for classic artistic techniques.
A proud sci-fi enthusiast, Maya channels her passion into creating graphic designs for conventions, including mascots and logos. She designed the mascots for two Worldcons: the final version of Major Ursa for the 2017 Helsinki convention and DeeCee for the 2021 Discon III. She is currently working on designs for the upcoming Eurocon 2025 / Archipelacon 2.
Maya’s work and creativity earned her Hugo Award nominations in both 2018 and 2021.
