Ever find yourself thinking, “I wish I could be part of something fun and incredibly rewarding?” Well, your wish just might be about to come true! At-con volunteers are on the lookout for spirited individuals to join our volunteer community for Glasgow 2024. We have a wide variety of opportunities, for example managing queues, checking badges and helping with the exhibits. At-con, you can volunteer for as little as a few hours.
Now, we know what you might be thinking, “Volunteering? What’s in it for me?” Let us count the ways! You’ll make new friends and contacts who share your enthusiasm and spirit. You’ll gain experience that looks good on a resume. There are also perks for volunteering, for example prize giveaways, access to Volunteer Lounge, and groats (voucher cash).
Here’s a little taste of what you can expect:
Ever wondered what it takes to bring an event to life? As a volunteer, you’ll get to experience what it’s like to be part of a team organising an event for an international crowd of science fiction and fantasy fans, writers, artists, musicians, and creators.
Every Worldcon is a unique puzzle, and you’ll be right there solving it with us. From problem-solving to team-building, you’ll learn new skills.
Expect laughter and maybe even a happy dance or two. Our aim is to make volunteering as enjoyable as the Worldcon itself!
At the heart of it all, your contribution helps to create an experience that brings joy to everyone involved. Our volunteers’ unpaid work is an extraordinarily generous gift, without which there would be no Worldcon. While the position may be unpaid, your hard work won’t go unnoticed.
Whether you’re a seasoned volunteer or new to the scene, we welcome you with open arms. Let’s make memories, share laughs, and, most importantly, create an unforgettable event.
We hope to build a team of volunteers with diverse backgrounds and skills, so come and help us make Glasgow 2024 a wonderful Worldcon!
At-con, you can just visit us at the Volunteer Desk and we’ll explain how volunteering works.
Pre-con, you can check out the Glasgow 2024 Available Roles page https://glasgow2024.org/for-members/volunteering/available-roles/. If you don’t see anything there that specifically suits you, email us at volunteers@glasgow2024.org, and we’ll get back to you.
The 82nd Worldcon will take place in Glasgow, August 8–12, 2024. We can’t wait to welcome you to Glasgow and the SEC/Armadillo for a Worldcon for Our Futures.
