Hugo Awards Ceremony
The premier event of any Worldcon is the presentation of the World Science Fiction Society’s Hugo Awards. The Hugo Awards honour the best of science fiction and fantasy of the previous year in literature, non-fiction, dramatic presentations, art, and fan-driven works.
The Glasgow 2024 Hugo Awards Ceremony will be held on Sunday evening at 8 p.m. in the Armadillo ‘Clyde’ Auditorium. Please join us in celebrating the best science fiction and fantasy of 2023, and congratulate the finalists and winners, who will be selected by you, the members of the Worldcon!
As in previous years, we will be opening the doors well in advance to allow everyone to find their seats. (The Armadillo has seating for 3,000 – so we’ll have room to fit everyone in who wants to be there!). The nominees and their guests are brought in shortly before the start, after attending an official reception. (Even seasoned professionals get nervous, so it’s a good idea to ensure they have had something to eat and drink before the show!). The Ceremony will also be streamed live to the SEC Lomond Hall.
During the show, which typically runs for about 2 hours, we will be presenting:
- The 2024 Hugo Awards, in 18 categories
- The Lodestar Award for Best Young Adult Book
- The Astounding Award for Best New Writer.
The Hugo Award Ceremony Booklet can be downloaded in PDF format (5 MB file).
Watching Online
For those who could not attend in person, we provided a free public stream of the full Ceremony. This is still available on our Youtube channel.
The stream was also available as part of the Online Convention for those with access.
